Age Calculator
Calculate your exact age in years, months and days using your date of birth.
How to use the Age Calculator
Enter your date of birth, then choose the date you want to calculate your age on. By default, the calculator uses today's date.
Select Calculate Age to see your exact age in years, months and days, along with additional statistics such as total months, weeks and days.
How age is calculated
Calendar rule: month anniversaries use the last available day when a month is shorter. February 29 anniversaries fall on February 28 in non-leap years. Total months and weeks are approximate.
Your exact age is calculated by comparing the calendar year, month and day of your birth date with the selected calculation date.
This approach accounts for different month lengths and leap years instead of simply dividing the total number of days by 365.
Age calculator example
If someone was born on January 1, 2000 and calculates their age on January 1, 2026, the result is exactly 26 years.
Common uses for an age calculator
An age calculator can be useful for checking eligibility requirements, completing forms, planning birthdays, calculating age on a specific historical date, or quickly finding how much time has passed since a birth date.
Use a fixed date for a reproducible result
A birth date of 15 January 2000 and calculation date of 16 September 2026 give 26 years, 8 months and 1 day. Set both fields to reproduce a result later; using today's date changes the answer as time passes.
Calendar age and total days answer different questions
Calendar months have different lengths, so dividing total days by 30 does not give an exact calendar age. Years, months and days use calendar dates. The total-months figure uses an average month length and is approximate.
This tool uses dates, not birth times. It clamps month-end and leap-day anniversaries to valid dates, which may differ from a particular eligibility rule. For an interval without a birth-date interpretation, use Days Between Dates.
Worked examples, including tricky dates
These results follow the calendar rule above. Try any of them in the calculator by setting both dates.
| Date of birth | Calculate on | Exact age | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 Aug 1995 | 30 Sep 2026 | 31 y, 1 m, 15 d | An ordinary case; 11,369 days in total |
| 20 May 2008 | 19 May 2026 | 17 y, 11 m, 29 d | The day before an 18th birthday is still 17 |
| 31 Jan 1990 | 28 Feb 2026 | 36 y, 1 m, 0 d | February has no 31st, so the month anniversary is 28 Feb |
| 29 Feb 2000 | 28 Feb 2026 | 26 y, 0 m, 0 d | A leap-day birthday falls on 28 Feb in non-leap years |
Other calculators and some legal rules treat month-end and leap-day birthdays differently, so results can differ by a day. For an official deadline or age limit, check the rule that applies to you. Our guide How to Calculate Your Exact Age explains the method step by step.
