Date Difference Calculator

Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt use Friday and Saturday. The US, UK, Europe and the UAE use Saturday and Sunday.

Jordan's list is built in: both Eids, the Hijri New Year, the Prophet's Birthday and national holidays (list and sources). For any other country, add your holidays yourself.

Calculate Days Between Two Dates

Utivaro's Days Between Dates Calculator makes it easy to find the elapsed time between two calendar dates.

Select a start date and an end date above and the calculator will show the difference in days, working days, weeks and hours, with an exact breakdown in years, months and days.

How to Use the Date Difference Calculator

  1. Select your start date.
  2. Select your end date.
  3. Tick Include the end date if both the first and last day should count, and choose which days are your weekend.
  4. The calculator will automatically calculate the difference when both dates are selected.
  5. You can also select Calculate to calculate the result again.

How Is the Number of Days Calculated?

The calculator measures the elapsed calendar time between the selected dates.

For example, the difference between January 1 and January 2 is one day. The difference between January 1 and January 31 is 30 days.

Does the Calculator Include the End Date?

By default it counts from and including the start date to, but not including, the end date. This is the difference between the dates, so March 10 to March 11 is 1 day.

Tick Include the end date when both days count, as for a holiday, a course or a hotel stay counted in days rather than nights. March 10 to March 11 then counts as 2 days.

Working Days and Weekends

The working-day result counts the same dates and leaves out the weekend days you choose. Weekends differ by country, so pick the one that matches yours:

WeekendWorking weekUsed in, for example
Saturday and SundayMonday to FridayUS, UK, most of Europe, UAE
Friday and SaturdaySunday to ThursdayJordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar

In October 2026 there are 22 working days from Monday to Friday, but 21 from Sunday to Thursday. Public holidays are not removed unless you choose Jordan's holidays, so subtract any others that fall in your range.

Leaving Out Jordan's Public Holidays

Choose Leave out Jordan's public holidays and the calculator removes every official holiday that falls on a working day, then lists the holidays in your range. In 2026 there are 261 Sunday-to-Thursday working days, and 252 once the 9 holiday days that fall on working days are removed. Holidays that fall on a Friday or Saturday, such as Labour Day and Christmas Day in 2026, do not change the count, because Jordan does not move them to another day.

The 2025 and 2026 dates are official. The 2027 Eid, Hijri New Year and Prophet's Birthday dates are expected dates based on the Umm al-Qura calendar and the pattern of past Prime Ministry announcements, and are marked as expected until they are confirmed. The full list, the Eid history and the sources are in Jordan Public Holidays and Working Days.

Your Own Country's or Employer's Holidays

Outside Jordan, choose Leave out holidays I add myself (any country) and add each holiday with its first day, last day and an optional name. A multi-day holiday only needs one entry: for example, the UK's Christmas and Boxing Day 2026 bank holidays are 25 December to 28 December, because Boxing Day falls on a Saturday and the substitute day is Monday 28 December. Add the dates your employer actually gives you, and the list is saved in this browser, used by both calculators and marked "added" in the results.

In Jordan you can combine the two: choose Jordan's public holidays and add an extra day your employer gives or a one-off holiday the government announces.

Add or Subtract Days From a Date

Use the second calculator to find the date a number of days before or after another date. 30 days after Wednesday 30 September 2026 is Friday 30 October 2026, and 90 days after it is Tuesday 29 December 2026. With Count working days only ticked, the start date is not counted and weekend days are skipped: one working day after Thursday 15 October 2026 is Sunday 18 October in Jordan, but Friday 16 October in the UK. If you also skip Jordan's public holidays, 5 working days after Thursday 21 May 2026 is Wednesday 3 June rather than Thursday 28 May, because Independence Day and the Eid al-Adha holiday fall in between.

Days to Weeks

One week contains seven days. The calculator divides the total number of days by seven to display the difference in weeks.

For example, 14 days equals 2 weeks, while 30 days is approximately 4.29 weeks.

Days to Months

Calendar months have different lengths, so the calculator does not divide by a fixed number. It gives an exact calendar breakdown instead: 30 September to 25 December 2026 is 86 days, which is 2 months and 25 days.

Days to Hours

Each full day contains 24 hours. The calculator multiplies the number of elapsed days by 24 to show the equivalent number of hours.

For example, 30 days equals 720 hours.

What If the End Date Is Before the Start Date?

You can enter the dates in either order. The calculator displays the absolute difference between them.

If the end date occurs before the start date, the result will also indicate that the dates were entered in reverse chronological order.

Common Uses for a Date Difference Calculator

Calculating days between dates can be useful for project planning, deadlines, travel, events, contracts, schedules, countdowns and general date calculations.

It can also help determine how much time has passed between two historical dates or how many days remain between two future dates.

Example: one week between two dates

From 1 September 2026 to 8 September 2026, the difference is 7 days, or 1 week. A task that counts both the first and last calendar dates would count 8 dates instead. Choose the convention that matches your task.

Understand the calendar assumptions

The day count includes weekends and holidays; the working-day count removes the weekend days you choose, and Jordan's public holidays only if you choose them. Reversing the dates keeps the displayed distance positive and adds a message that the end date is earlier. Equal dates produce zero.

Hours equal days multiplied by 24; this is not elapsed time between local timestamps across a daylight-saving change. The breakdown in years, months and days follows the calendar, so it is exact. For years, months and days since birth, use the Age Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the calculator include the end date?

Not by default. It counts from and including the start date to, but not including, the end date, so March 10 to March 11 is 1 day. Tick Include the end date to count both days, which gives 2.

How many days are between January 1 and January 31?

There are 30 elapsed days between January 1 and January 31.

Does this calculator count leap years?

Yes. Because the calculation uses the actual selected calendar dates, leap-year dates such as February 29 are accounted for.

Can I calculate dates from different years?

Yes. The start and end dates can be in different months or different years.

Can the end date be earlier than the start date?

Yes. The calculator will still show the number of days separating the dates and indicate that the end date is earlier.

Can it count working days only?

Yes. The working-day result leaves out the weekend days you choose, such as Saturday and Sunday or Friday and Saturday. You can also leave out public holidays: Jordan's are built in for 2025 to 2027, and for any other country you add your own.

How do I leave out holidays for a country other than Jordan?

Choose Leave out holidays I add myself (any country), then add each holiday with its first and last day and an optional name. The list is saved in your browser and used by both calculators, so you only enter it once.

Does it know when Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha fall?

For Jordan, yes. The 2025 and 2026 dates come from official announcements. The 2027 Eid dates are expected dates based on the Umm al-Qura calendar and past announcements, and are marked as expected until the government confirms them.

Is the Days Between Dates Calculator free?

Yes. The calculator is free to use and does not require registration.
