Free Online Image Resizer
Resize JPG, PNG and WebP images to exact pixel dimensions, preserve their proportions and download the result—all in your browser.
Use files up to 25 MB. Decoded and resized images are limited to 40 million pixels where dimensions are available. A smaller file may work better on phones. Changing a file or settings clears the previous result.
Leave empty to use the quality slider as usual. With a target, the tool picks the highest quality (up to the slider value) that fits, and reduces the dimensions only if quality alone isn't enough. For upload forms, choose JPG. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, so the result also fits forms that use 1,024.
Resize an image to exact dimensions
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file, enter the width or height you need, then select Resize Image. With Keep aspect ratio enabled, the other dimension updates automatically so the image is not stretched. Turn it off only when you need a specific width and height.
Choose the right image format
Keep the source format or export as JPG, PNG or WebP. JPG suits photographs and broad compatibility, PNG is useful when you need transparency, and WebP often provides efficient web delivery. To convert without resizing, use the dedicated JPG to WebP converter or WebP to JPG converter.
Reduce an image to a specific file size
Upload forms often set a limit such as 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. Enter the limit in Target file size, or tap a preset, then select Resize Image. The tool tries your chosen dimensions first and searches for the highest JPG or WebP quality that fits. If the image still doesn't fit at 50% quality, it reduces the width and height step by step, keeping the aspect ratio, unless you untick Allow smaller dimensions if needed. When a form also requires exact dimensions, enter them and untick that option so they never change.
PNG files are lossless, so quality has no effect on them; with a target, only the dimensions can change. For photos, JPG reaches small sizes with much less visible loss. Our guide How to Reduce a Photo to Under 100 KB explains what to expect, with measured examples.
Control quality and file size
The quality slider applies to JPG and WebP output. A lower setting can reduce the download size, while a higher setting retains more detail. The result panel lets you compare the original and resized file sizes before downloading.
Private local processing
Your image is decoded, resized and exported locally with your browser's Canvas API; it is not uploaded to Utivaro. If your source is an Apple photo, first use the HEIC to JPG converter, then resize the JPG here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What image formats can I resize?
The resizer supports JPG, PNG and WebP files in modern browsers.
Can I keep the aspect ratio?
Yes. Keep aspect ratio is enabled by default so changing one dimension updates the other.
Can I change the output format?
Yes. You can keep the original format or export to JPG, PNG or WebP.
Can I compress an image to 100 KB or another exact size?
Yes. Enter the size in Target file size. The tool finds the highest quality that fits and reduces the dimensions only if needed.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Resizing and export happen locally in your browser.
How much each setting shrinks a file: measured examples
We resized two real photos in Chrome using the same browser canvas method as this tool and saved them as JPG. Sizes are in KB.
| Photo | Size (px) | Quality 92 | Quality 80 | Quality 70 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indoor, plain background | 1024 × 576 | 103 | 63 | 48 |
| Indoor, plain background | 800 × 450 | 76 | 44 | 34 |
| Busy street scene | 600 × 800 | 192 | 125 | 101 |
| Busy street scene | 450 × 600 | 123 | 80 | 64 |
Lowering quality from 92 to 70 roughly halves a file, and detailed photos need about twice the space of simple ones at the same size. For a form limit, start around 1000 px on the long side at quality 70–80 and check the new size before downloading.
